Tooth Whitening

The whitening of teeth through professional treatments or bleaching products is an option for many patients. There are several natural means of whitening teeth including good oral hygiene and regular dental cleans. Our dentists and hygienists can professionally clean your teeth to rejuvenate your smile and determine if you are suitable for professional bleaching. Not everyone’s teeth are suitable for whitening. Your gums and teeth should be healthy prior to the treatment. Existing tooth decay, restorations (e.g. fillings, crowns and veneers), and any other oral diseases or conditions will need to be treated prior to whitening to avoid sensitivity.

There are many causes of discolouration, (e.g. diet, ageing etc.) whether it is on the surface or inside the teeth. From the correct diagnosis of the reasons for discolouration, we can determine if tooth whitening is the right approach or an alternative therapy will obtain better results.
