The History of the Grandstand

Grandstand Dental Care is situated in the historic Sir Kenneth Luke Grandstand at Waverly Park, formally known as VFL Park and AFL park. Waverly Park was built in 1970 by the Australian Football League and with a total capacity of 72,000 it hosted VFL and AFL games for over 30 years. In 2001 Mirvac commenced redevelopment of the area into a housing estate. The historic Sir Kenneth Luke Grandstand was retained and converted into a shopping and commercial area. Grandstand Dental Care was purpose built within the grandstand to offer you a state of the art facility in which to receive your dental treatment. Conveniently located near Foodworks Supermarket for all your grocery and shopping needs, and The Stadium Café, Bar and Lounge, The Grandstand offers a great environment to catch up with friends before or after your dental appointment. You can also visit our in house physiotherapist before watching the Hawks train on the ground. There is a fish and chip shop and a gym to burn off those calories.

Visit our sterilization centre

At Grandstand Dental Care, your safety is our highest priority. All our staff are trained in stringent hygiene and safety policy, in line with the guidelines as set by the Dental Practice Board. All our staff members undertake ongoing training and follow regulations meticulously. All medical instruments are heat sterilized in the latest autoclave high-pressure steam sterilisation unit. Disposable instruments are used when possible and placed in special waste containers. We use the latest dental chairs and our suction and handpiece lines are disinfected between patients. You are welcome to ask any of the Grandstand Dental team for a tour of our sterilization facility at any time to see how our instruments are cleaned and your protection is ensured.

Intra Oral Camera

Both our surgeries are equipped with an intra-oral camera. This enables us to photograph your mouth and show you the pictures taken from angles you would never otherwise be able to see. This makes it much easier for you to understand the treatment options we recommend and make a more educated and informed decision regarding your dental treatment.

Anxious Patients

At Grandstand Dental Care, we believe our warm and friendly team and environment cater for the most anxious of patients. However for those patients who need a little extra help to relax we use Penthrox in our clinic. Penthrox is inhaled once you are in the dental chair and is a mild anxiety depressor. This should help alleviate some of the concerns you may have during your dental treatment. We also have access to General Anaesthetic facilities if required, so you can wake up with your new smile.
