Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth generally erupt between the ages of 17 and 25. For some people they will erupt without incident just like all other teeth, while for others, they can become impacted which may cause pain and swelling near the offending tooth. Occasionally wisdom teeth may grow at such a severe angle that they damage the tooth in front. This may be asymptomatic for you, but can be detected in a special radiograph.

For some people, wisdom teeth may erupt normally, without you even knowing. For other people with impacted wisdom teeth, they may require extractions.

Depending on your personal situation, the number of teeth being removed and their condition and position, we may remove them within our practice under a local anaesthetic or you may be referred to a specialist.
