There is no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are misshapen, crooked or stained. A veneer may also be used to improve the appearance of your smile after an accident. Sometimes, veneers can be used instead of orthodontics to create the appearance of teeth that have been straightened. Veneers are thin, custom-made facings crafted of tooth-coloured material. They are designed to cover the front of your teeth and are custom made in a dental laboratory. Just as a false fingernail is glued to your natural finger nail, a veneer is bonded to your natural tooth. However, to ensure your veneers do not look too thick, a small amount of enamel is shaved off the front of your tooth, prior to placing the veneer. As the veneer is custom made for you, two appointments are required for this procedure.
