When should I bring my child for their first appointment? | The Importance of Baby Teeth | Fissure Sealants When should I bring my child for their first appointment? Many of your child’s baby teeth should have erupted by the time they are 12 months old. This is the ideal time for your child’s first dental appointment. Bringing your child in at this age allows your Grandstand Dentist to pick up abnormalities early on and identify any habits that may disrupt the development of your child’s teeth. It should be talked about as a positive experience and - if your child is brought in at this early age – it probably will be! A simple examination should be all that is needed, and this will desensitize your child to the dental experience. Children are far better in the dental chair if they have seen a friend or family member have their turn first. It is great for a child to watch their parent or older siblings have a dental check up. |
